Huge congratulations to the SCA's , who is one of the Guggenheim Foundation’s 2025 Fellows for Film-Video. Also on the list is SCA alumnus for Choreography. Terrific news! See all of the "198 Trailblazing Artists and Scholars Across 53 Fields," chosen rigorously from "a pool of nearly 3,500 applicants," in "The Guggenheim Foundation’s 100th Class of Fellows" .

King Arthur’s Night
The SCA's James Long served as producer on a unique documentary film, King Arthur’s Night, directed by John Bolton, which is screening as part of the 2025 on Wednesday, May 7, at 7:30 PM at the VIFF Centre (1181 Seymour St, Vancouver), and on Thursday, May 8, at 10:00 AM in the Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema here at the SCA (149 W. Hastings St., Vancouver). The film features a cast of artists both with and without Down syndrome and is based on the large-scale theatrical production Long developed and directed in 2016. More .
Eyes of The Beast
Neworld Theatre just completed a script workshop and reading of the Eyes of The Beast, a performance based on climate disaster testimonials gathered as part of , coordinated by the University of Victoria’s Department of Writing. Content from the workshop will morph into CA 485, an intercession class run by the SCA's James Long, and result in a show in the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre in June, with students from across SCA participating. Great news! SCA alumni and are both on the longlist, representing the Pacific region, for the 2025 Sobey Art Award. Here's hoping that this is the year that there's a tie for both this region and the whole prize! Congratulations to all of the longlisted artists, who you can meet .

The Undesirables wins first
, a collaborative poetry book by Lisa Robertson and Myfanwy Macleod designed by Courtenay Webber (The Future) and edited by the SCA's Kay Higgins, won "first place" in the poetry category at the 2025 The Alcuin Society awards. Congratulations! See the all the winners .
