They are the Sweet Memories is a series of seven colour photographs that displays items from Silas Ng鈥檚 family archive. Each photograph, arranged on the gallery wall in a line, represents the Ng family鈥檚 history and story. Ng creates a contemplative and poetic narrative through the presentation of his parents well used English-Chinese dictionary, family snapshots, passport photos, cassette and VHS tapes. The items are composed in a collage that both conceals and highlights memories of Ng鈥檚 parent鈥檚 move from Hong Kong to Vancouver. These memories represent a journey that changed the course of the artist鈥檚 parents' life.
The exhibition of a graduating project represents the culmination of a candidate鈥檚 studies, and is presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Fine Arts.
