Join us for the B.C. premiere of , a groundbreaking collaborative film entirely shot with a spherical camera and featuring 19 young co-creators from rural British Columbia.

This evening symposium invites audiences to explore how artistic practices can meaningfully incorporate community voices while sparking methodological innovation. Through film, dialogue, and critical discussion, we explore the potential of "yielding" creative authority in collaborative art-making.

7:15 PM | FILM SCREENING: "IN THE GARDEN OF FORKING PATHS"
Experience this award-winning work that weaves together the perspectives of children as they explore, observe, and document their relationships with British Columbia's forests and coastlines.

BREAK

8:40 PM | VOICES OF CO-CREATION
A moderated dialogue featuring the film's young co-creators, sharing their experiences of the collaborative artistic process and how their involvement shaped both the creative work and their understanding of local environments.

9:00 PM | EXPANDING THE CONVERSATION
Join project leads Simone Rapisarda (SFU School for the Contemporary Arts) and Dr. Dara Culhane (SFU Sociology & Anthropology) for a conversation exploring transdisciplinary collaboration, community-centered methodologies, and the democratization of artistic practice.

This symposium serves as the culminating event following A Poetic of Yielding, a dual-channel installation on view in the SCA lobby from March 4-17, featuring works by Simone Rapisarda that explore communities and landscapes at the threshold of transformation.

Whether you're an artist, scholar, student, or community member interested in collaborative creation, this event offers valuable insights into emerging practices that center diverse voices and intergenerational dialogue.

Presented by the SFU School for the Contemporary Arts and the Department of Sociology & Anthropology, with support from the FCAT Dean's Event Fund and the Centre for Imaginative Ethnography.
