Curriculum

Through an applied learning approach and business case-focused curriculum, the SFU Beedie MBA equips you with the in-demand skills, knowledge and resources to become innovative, holistic and socially responsible industry leaders. The program comprises six seamlessly interconnected terms, empowering you to apply your education as you progress. You can choose your unique path to success with avenues of future-proof and globally in-demand specialized coursework and standalone electives for interest-based skills development.

At the end of the 24-month program, you will be ready to embark on your next career stage, equipped with a comprehensive and tailored educational experience. You'll possess the expertise to transform and lead divisions within organizations on both a local and global scale.

Preparation courses such as Excel and Financial Accounting will be available in a self-paced, online format to help you prepare for the program. You will begin these prep courses before classes start in September, allowing you to learn at your own pace and transition smoothly into the MBA program.

  • Financial Management
    Understand the basics of finance necessary for managerial decision-making. This course is divided into two blocks: short-term financing (operational finance) and long-term financing (corporate finance).

Students will apply their learning through the lens of entrepreneurship as one mechanism by which Indigenous notions of value are expressed in business environments.

    The International Applied Project is a program highlight. You'll utilize, apply, and expand upon the knowledge and skills gained from the MBA Program. Working on a real-time live project for an international company will give you a global perspective on business and a broader understanding of working in multicultural business environments. You'll gain valuable insights through integrated coursework, guest speakers, seminars and company visits, culminating in an applied project deliverable presented to a corporate partner. Previous destinations include Brazil, Singapore, Hong Kong and Portugal.

  • Negotiations and Conflict Resolution
    Understand the behaviour of individuals, groups and organizations in the context of mixed-motive (competitive and cooperative) situations. This course is designed to be relevant to the broad spectrum of negotiation problems that managers and professionals face.
  • Financial Statement Analysis
    Develop expertise in interpreting financial statements to assess organizational health and make informed financial decisions.
  • Business Law
    Understand business laws and regulations to navigate legal challenges and manage workforce-related issues effectively.
