SFU Beedie introduces flexible MBA options for working professionals
尤物视频鈥檚 Beedie School of Business is launching new flexible options for its MBA program, offering working professionals the opportunity to pursue advanced business education without interrupting their careers. Starting in fall 2025, these new delivery methods allow students to tailor their MBA experience to fit their schedules and personal commitments, whether through in-person, online, or hybrid learning formats.
鈥淲e鈥檝e seen a growing demand for MBA programs that offer the flexibility to study while maintaining professional and personal obligations,鈥 says Sudheer Gupta, associate dean of graduate programs at SFU Beedie. 鈥淲ith our new program options, students can choose a learning path that works for them鈥攚hether that鈥檚 studying from home or engaging in face-to-face classroom discussions, or a combination of both.鈥
Flexible learning options
SFU Beedie鈥檚 MBA is offering three distinct learning modes to accommodate professionals who need to balance different needs in their work and education:
- In-person learning
The in-person option is ideal for those based in the Metro Vancouver area. Classes will be held two evenings a week at SFU Beedie鈥檚 downtown Vancouver campus, with occasional weekend intensives, allowing students to build meaningful connections with peers while continuing to work. The in-person format also allows for face-to-face networking and hands-on learning in the heart of Vancouver鈥檚 business district. - Online learning
For students seeking greater flexibility, the online MBA option offers the same curriculum and access to SFU Beedie鈥檚 world-class faculty, all delivered virtually. This format is designed for professionals who need to fit their studies around busy work and personal schedules. Online students will participate in live, interactive classes twice a week, with the ability to apply their new skills directly to their work. - Hybrid learning
The hybrid option combines the best of both in-person and online learning. Students can choose the format that works best for each course, balancing in-person classroom sessions in downtown Vancouver with the flexibility of online learning. This option is particularly suited to those who need maximum flexibility in their schedules while still benefiting from in-person interaction and networking opportunities.
Specialized coursework
As part of the new flexible MBA offerings, SFU Beedie is also introducing specialized coursework designed to help students deepen their expertise in key areas of business. These specialized coursework options allow students to tailor their learning experience to their professional goals and interests while also earning additional credentials.
With courses like AI for Business, Strategic Consulting, and Global Strategy, as well as electives like Negotiations and Luxury Brand Strategy, students can customize their learning journey and deepen their expertise in areas of interest.
Students can choose from the following specialized coursework areas:
- Digital Transformation & Analytics
- Innovation & Value Creation
- Sustainable Futures
- Global Management
- Financial Analysis (launching fall 2026)
The first four areas are also available as certificates, allowing students to earn an additional credential alongside their MBA. The Financial Analysis specialization is currently in the process of being approved as a certificate.
GDBA pathway to the MBA
In addition to the new flexible delivery and specialized coursework options, SFU Beedie continues to offer the Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (GDBA) as a standalone credential or an entry point into the MBA program.
Delivered entirely online, the GDBA equips students with foundational business skills taught by SFU Beedie鈥檚 MBA faculty. The program is ideal for professionals exploring advanced business education while maintaining their work commitments. Completing the GDBA also accelerates progress toward an MBA, as it covers a significant portion of the core curriculum, streamlining the transition into SFU Beedie鈥檚 MBA options.
Supporting career development
The MBA program at SFU Beedie offers a range of career support services, including mentorship opportunities, networking events, and one-on-one career advising. Students will also have access to SFU Beedie鈥檚 extensive alumni network, helping them build connections that can lead to future career opportunities.
