Celebrating SFU Beedie’s undergraduate student successes in international case competitions
We are excited to share that SFU Beedie undergraduate students have recently achieved outstanding success at three prestigious international case competitions. These wins not only showcase the caliber of our students but also highlight the incredible commitment, mentorship, and dedication of our faculty.
SFU BEEDIE WINS FIRST PLACE AT THE HEAVENER INTERNATIONAL CASE COMPETITION
In February, four undergraduate students from the SFU Beedie School of Business achieved an impressive milestone at the Heavener International Case Competition (HICC) in Gainesville, Florida. Hosted by the University of Florida’s Heavener School of Business, the competition welcomed 16 teams from top universities globally.
Our students presented to real-world clients—Intermex, a leading money transfer service across the Americas, and Augmented Info Systems, a Florida-based AI and data solutions provider. They placed first in both the 9-hour and 28-hour cases in their division, advancing to the finals and ultimately taking home first place overall, earning the title of 2025 HICC champion. This victory secures SFU Beedie an invitation to the prestigious Champion’s Trophy International Case Competition in 2026.
Congratulations to the winning team—Sandra Chen, Chase Landa, Gurjot Gill, and Rade Adzic—and SFU Beedie faculty coach Matt Martell for this remarkable achievement.
SFU BEEDIE PLACES FIRST AT THE AMSTERDAM CASE COMPETITION
A team of four undergraduate students represented SFU Beedie and made a strong mark at the annual Amsterdam Case Competition (ACC) hosted by the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, in March.
Competing against 12 top business schools worldwide, the team placed second in the 8-hour case and first in the 24-hour case in their division, earning them a place in the finals. There, they competed against three leading business schools and emerged first overall. A special shout out to one of our competitors, Ripanpreet Kaur, who was reocgnized as the Overall Best Speaker of the competition.
We proudly congratulate the team members Jasleen Kaur Rai, Ripanpreet Kaur, Andrew Bui, and Nigel Matthias, and SFU Beedie faculty coach Kevin Stewart for their phenomenal performance on the international stage.
SFU BEEDIE TAKES HOME FIRST PLACE AT THE CONFERENCE MIS (CoMIS) COMPETITION
This March, a team of three SFU Beedie undergraduate students competed at the annual Conference MIS (CoMIS) Competition hosted by the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management.
Facing off against 16 top business schools internationally, the team tackled two different Management Information Systems (MIS) cases—an 8-hour case and a 24-hour case—and placed first in both cases within their division. The SFU Beedie team ultimately went on to win the 2025 CoMIS competition.
A big congratulations to the team members Albel Dhanoa, Adrian Wong, and Joaquin Zapata, and SFU Beedie faculty coaches JM Goh, Connie Liu, and Aishwarya Deep Shukla for their stellar performance on behalf of SFU Beedie!
These incredible results reflect the power of experiential learning in action. Experiences like this are imperative for the skill development of our students while also supporting SFU Beedie’s mission nationally and across the globe.
A special thanks to the faculty members who volunteer their time to coach, mentor, and support our students. In addition to those already mentioned, we would also like to acknowledge the following faculty members who have also supported or are currently coaching other competitions this term: Kam Phung, Stephanie Bertels, Rui Basto da Silva, Stephen Spector, Anne Macdonald, Bahareh Assadi, and Peter Tingling. Their work plays a vital role in shaping our students’ success, and none of this would be possible without their unwavering dedication.
