Bobbie Dhillon

G&F Financial Group, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Planning
EMBA
鈥淢y key lessons from the program were learning how to effectively frame and structure a problem or situation, manage a tight schedule, know what to prioritize and how to prioritize it, and identify core problems quickly and addressing them.鈥

My Experience at SFU Beedie

Through the program, I've gained meaningful insights from other students as well as exposure to viewpoints outside of the financial services space. While it's not easy to balance work, school, and family, I've also learned strategies to stay at the top of my game. For example, I've leveraged my EMBA network to form a weekly study group that keeps all of us accountable with academic and project work.

My Journey

Prior to starting the Executive MBA program, I had two decades of experience in marketing, communications, and community investment for credit unions. Motivated to expand my knowledge and network, I decided to pursue the EMBA. I wanted to deepen my understanding of business strategies and how to effectively apply them on the job.

As a member of the 2019 cohort, graduation day is on the horizon. The knowledge and connections I've acquired at SFU Beedie will allow me to accelerate my career and continue to make strategic contributions at the senior executive level.

Highlights

The biggest lessons I've taken from the EMBA are: 1) how to frame and tackle a problem or situation, 2) how to prioritize, and 3) how to manage a tight schedule.

In addition, the EMBA has boosted my confidence and credibility which is already showing in my work.

Where I am today

At G&F Financial Group, I have been promoted to Senior Vice President of Marketing and Planning. As a member of the executive team, I get to set the strategic direction of marketing, communications, community investment, and research initiatives.
