The Western Conference on Science Education[July 16 - 18, 2025]

Event start date: July 16, 2025

July 16 - 18, 2025

The biennial Western Conference on Science Education (WCSE) is well established as an opportunity to be inspired by provocative and accessible speakers, exchange ideas with diverse colleagues from colleges and universities across Canada, and enjoy a relaxed conference atmosphere, all on a lovely summer day.

We are happy to announce that WCSE 2025 is running Wednesday July 16 to Friday July 18, 2025 on the campus of Western University in London Ontario.  This year鈥檚 conference theme is 鈥淪ustainable Learning鈥. At first glance, you might assume this is a focus on environmental curriculum, but that鈥檚 not the intent. There has been a lot of rapid change in education over recent years. As a result, educators have had to adapt and evolve to support students. These changes have come with increased administrative workload and pressure on educators鈥攁ll during a time of fiscal instability for post-secondary institutions. The theme of WCSE 2025, therefore, invites you to think about moving forward in a sustainable way in this ever-changing landscape. Of course, there is also a diversity of sessions to engage everyone involved in post-secondary education including sessions on assessment, equity and accessibility, critical thinking, artificial intelligence, authentic and experiential learning, and much more!

The WCSE 2025 preliminary conference program is available on the sidebar menu of our website alongside the link for registration: . We have engaging plenaries to start each day, a mix of presentations, panels, and workshops, and a wine-and-cheese poster reception. On the social side, there鈥檚 an opening mixer in the evening of Tuesday July 15, a Community Dinner on Wednesday evening, and opportunities for community building throughout the conference.

WCSE 2025 is running hybrid, so if attending in-person isn鈥檛 an option for you, we invite you to participate virtually. All registered participants will have access to session recordings after the conference closes so if you are drawn to more than one concurrent presentation, you don鈥檛 have to miss anything!

To receive direct notification of future updates, email us at wcse@uwo.ca and ask to join our mailing list. You can also direct any questions to that email as well.
