Board of Governors Office
The Board of Governors is the senior governing body at SFU constituted under the University Act. The Board Office assists with the effective functioning of the Board of Governors. For more information, please visit sfu.ca/bog
Human Rights Office (including Bullying and Harassment Office)
The Human Rights Office provides safe, timely, confidential and impartial advice, support, referrals and information to members of the SFU community on issues related to human rights. For more information, please visit sfu.ca/humanrights
The Bullying and Harassment Office was created to be the first point of contact for all SFU students, staff and faculty who may have experienced bullying and harassment at SFU. The Office was designed to be a centralized place to get information, submit a report about bullying and harassment, or access support. SFU community members who are interested in seeking support or filing a report under SFU鈥檚 Bullying and Harassment Policy (GP 47) are encouraged to reach out to the Office to learn more at sfu.ca/bullying-harassment
Internal Audit
The University鈥檚 Internal Auditor and oversees all internal audit activities at the University. The Internal Auditor鈥檚 role is to provide an independent and objective assurance, and to add value and improve the University鈥檚 management processes, operations and governance processes through the conduct of a comprehensive, risk-based internal audit plan. All University units and operations fall within the scope of audit services and assessments, which are intended to determine whether the processes of risk management, control, performance measurement and governance鈥攁s designed and represented by management鈥攁re adequate to ensure the University is operating effectively, efficiently and economically within established laws, regulations, University policies and delegated authorities.
Office of the Ombudsperson
The Ombudsperson at SFU is an independent, impartial and confidential resource for students and provides information and guidance on students' rights and responsibilities, and University regulations, policies and procedures. The Ombudsperson may also make recommendations to the University, where appropriate, for changes to policies and procedures and to promote discussion on institution-wide concerns that impact students. The Ombudsperson is an advocate for fairness in general for the benefit of all students and the university community as a whole. For more information, please visit
