Work To Be Completed:

1. A section of University High Street will be repaved

2. Potholes along Gaglardi Way, on Residence Lane and within the East campus Bus Loop will be repaved

Expected interruptions:

1. Single lane alternating traffic can be expected along Univerity High Street

2. A lane shift can be expected along northbound Gaglardi Way  

3. Vehicle access to the rear of Shell House will temporarily be closed  

4. Temporary bus bay relocations can be anticipated while work is underway within the bus loop and along University High Street (in front of the Cornerstone Building)

5. Parking in front of The HUB Building may be impacted by this work

6. Traffic delays can be expected along Gaglardi Way, University High Street and University Crescent (section by A&W)

Comments

Except as noted above, transit bus routing and schedule is not anticipated to be impacted by the above.

Where:

MBC - AQ Service Lane

Work To Be Completed:

Equipment delivery. This will involve a crane staging on the west end of the service lane, blocking the lane entrance.

Expected interruptions:

1. The west end of the MBC-AQ service lane will be closed. A detour route will be available to the MBC, SUB and AQ loading zones durign this closure. See map.

2. Minimum delays along Gaglardi Way can be anticipated.

3. There will be no parking permitted along the Halpern Lane during the lane closure.

4. Pedestrians and cyclists be detoured.

The following is related to activity that can be expected on the Burnaby campus as part of the Student Residence "Phase 3 Construction Project"

Spring 2025 - July 2027

Where:

1. Residence main parking lot off West Campus Road

2. West Campus Road

3. University Drive West

4. Sections of Gaglardi Way and University Drive East

Work to be completed:

Constuction of student residence building

Expected interruptions:

1. An increase in construction vehicles travelling on campus can be expected along sections of Gaglardi Way, University Drive East, University Drive West, and West Campus Road. This includes slow moving vehicles navigating roadway inclines.

2. Traffic delays can be expected. Allow extra travel time.

3. The northern section of the Residence main parking lot is closed throughout the building construcition period and restricted to construction personnel and vehicles.

3. Construction vehicles will be travelling through the residence main parking lot off West Campus Road to enter and depart from the construction site staging and lay-down area. Caution should be exercised and extra attention given to traffic control person assisting with truck routing through the parking lot and in and out of the construction site.

This will involve an approximate 9:00AM - 3:00PM temporary closure of the westbound curb lane between Tower Road and Nelson Way to accommodate event activity

Expected interruptions:

1. The westbound curb traffic lane of University Drive East will be closed between Tower Road and Nelson Way.

2. A temporary 30km/h speed limit will be in place. 

3. Minimum delays may be anticipated.

4. Pedestrians and cyclists may be detoured for event activity along the Multi-use Pathway.

Transit bus routing and schedule will not be impacted by the above.

September 2024 - May 2025

Where:

The section of Arts Road between University Drive East and the vicinity of Strand Hall receiving lane.

Work to be completed:

Roadside curb work and pedestrian path upgrades.

Expected interruptions:

1. The southbound traffic lane will be closed between University Drive East and the vicinity of Strand Hall receiving lane. The southbound traffic lane will be closed using fencing.

2. The sidewalk will be closed. A delineated pedestrian detour route around the fencing will be in place.

3. Vehicles enroute along University Drive East to the North Parking lot will be detoured to enter the parking lot from East Campus Road.

4. Vehicles departing the North Parking lot west side will be directed to turn right (northbound) only.

5. Delivery vehicles, service vehicles, and other destined for Strand Hall receiving lane will be detoured to use the section of Arts Road at East Campus Road.  

Comments

1. The northbound traffic lane on Arts Road will be kept open for northbound traffic only.

2. Transit bus routing and schedule is not anticipated to be impacted by the above.
