Faren Wolfe

I was raised in the Okanagan in a settler context and moved to the Salish Sea in 2004. As a youth, my grandmother told me we had matrilineal Coastal Indigenous ancestry but intergenerational trauma prevented us from exploring it. It was a great surprise then, through my work with the Xwe鈥檈tay/Lasqueti Archaeology Project,  to discover my Indigenous great great great grandmother Margaret (Maggie) Kosampsom lived, loved, and died on Xwe鈥檈tay/Lasqueti after arriving here in the late 1800鈥檚 to homestead with her husband Robert Stubbins. It鈥檚 been an immense blessing to connect with my ancestor and restore her lost Indigenous heritage to Xwe鈥檈tay/Lasqueti鈥檚 settler history. I give thanks to Spirit and to the ancestors for the privilege of participating in this sacred work.
