Philosophy Career Advice

As a philosophy student, you cultivate critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and effective communication skills鈥攁ssets that are highly valued across a wide range of professions. Whether you aspire to enter fields such as law, education, public policy, or business, our goal is to connect your philosophical training with real-world opportunities.

Be proactive

To improve your chances of getting hired without pursuing more degrees, it鈥檚 important to start gaining relevant experience early in your studies.

  • Enhance your job prospects by taking courses in other fields like criminology, business, computer science, or economics. Adding a minor, certificate, or even a second major can diversify your academic resume and enhance your prospects.
  • Look for practical experience. An unpaid internship can be much more beneficial for your future job search than a summer job as a barista, even if it feels tough at the time.

Further degrees

Philosophy majors are very well-qualified to pursue a range of degrees; motivated students with good academic records have a lot of opportunities.
