Tell us a little about yourself, including what inspires you to learn and continue in your chosen field
I'm an engineer at my core鈥攃urious and hands-on, no matter the field. Whether it's hardware, software, or something in between, I enjoy building thoughtful solutions and bringing ideas to life. I thrive in collaborative environments and take pride in connecting the dots across disciplines.
Why did you choose to come to SFU?
I chose SFU because it's well known for its mechatronics program. What drew me to mechatronics is how it brings together different disciplines鈥攎echanical, electrical, and software engineering. That blend really fits who I am.
How would you describe your research or your program to a family member?
I work in mechatronics, which means I design smart systems where electronics, mechanics, and software all come together. You can think of it like building intelligent machines or devices. Right now, I鈥檓 working on creating sensors, which means finding creative ways to measure things in the real world using technology.
What three (3) keywords would you use to describe your research?
mechatronics, sensors, robotics
How have your courses, RA-ships, TA-ships, or non-academic school experiences contributed to your academic and/or professional development?
I鈥檝e learned a lot by working in our high-tech lab, getting hands-on with equipment that鈥檚 not easy to find elsewhere. That kind of access helped me grow both technically and creatively. I also made it a point to present my work whenever I could鈥攚hether in seminars or the 3MT competition鈥攕o I could get better at explaining my ideas and sharing my research with others.
