Tell us a little about yourself, including what inspires you to learn and continue in your chosen field

Bryant has almost a decade of professional experience, primarily working as a project manager to implement new data software into healthcare organizations in the United States & Canada. Bryant is a voracious learner, geography & map nerd, and is committed to helping others learn and grow through various mentoring programs. He received his undergraduate degree in International Business from the University of Alabama in 2014. He is also an alumni of the 2021 full-time MBA cohort at SFU. At SFU, Bryant was an active member of multiple case competition teams and was a Student Ambassador for incoming MBA students. Outside of work, you can find him skiing, playing volleyball, and trying to remember to put the letter 'u' in words like harbour.

Why did you choose to come to SFU?

When I was looking for MBA programs, I knew that I wanted a full-time program, but I wasn't keen on taking multiple years off work. I also wanted a program that provided me with a small, but diverse, cohort so I could learn from a variety of life experiences. Additionally, the cost of my education at SFU was much more affordable that other programs I was looking at in the U.S., especially when you considered that your academic coursework was complete in just 12 months.

How would you describe your research or your program to a family member?

The full-time MBA program at SFU was full of growth for me, both personally & professionally. As someone who grew up in a small town, I not only got to meet people from all over the world, but I was able to learn to approach problems from a variety of perspectives and I learned how to communicate & work with folks from a wide cultural background.

What three (3) keywords would you use to describe your research?

Impactful. Diverse. Fast-paced.

How have your courses, RA-ships, TA-ships, or non-academic school experiences contributed to your academic and/or professional development?

One of the biggest areas of development for me during my MBA program was participating in multiple case competitions. My team and I took home first place at the 29th Annual Kogod Case Competition hosted by the Kogod School of Business in Washington, D.C. The case competitions allowed me to put my learning into practice and come up with solutions to some pretty tricky business problems, all while working alongside my classmates. The cases weren't easy and they required a large time commitment, but it helped me hone in the theories I was learning in the classroom. Plus, the cash prize was a welcomed reward!
