Dr. Steven Spencer Robert K. and Dale J. Weary Chair in Social Psychology, Ohio State University |
Dr. Steven Spencer is a preeminent scholar of stereotypes and prejudice and their effects on people鈥檚 self-concept and academic performance. He published the pioneering study of stereotype threat on women鈥檚 math performance in a 1999 article that has been cited over 2,500 times. Dr. Spencer has more than a decade of experience at the University of Waterloo researching how implicit biases affect women in math and engineering. Dr. Spencer鈥檚 more recent experience is in conducting and assessing the overall effectiveness of longitudinal interventions in educational contexts.
