Canada Graduate Scholarship Master's (CIHR, NSERC & SSHRC)

The Canada Graduate Scholarship - Master's Program (CGSM) supports Canadian students in all disciplines and is administered jointly by Canada's three federal granting agencies.

Deadline to Apply:
Closed until Fall 2025

Award Value:
$27,000 for one year.

 Candidate Eligibility:
  • Canadian citizens
  • Permanent residents of Canada

International students are not eligible to apply.

Undertaking SSHRC research?

Consider applying to the annual SSHRC Storyteller's competition, where you may receive $3,000, attend the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, and possibly present at the SSHRC Impact Awards.

Competition Timeline (2024)


before 08:00 PM (EST) | 05:00 PM (Vancouver time) - If the deadline falls on a weekend or on a federal holiday, applications must be submitted by the following business day before 8:00 pm (ET).		 Student deadline to submit the full application on Research Portal. 
February 
 University Scholarship Selection Committee (USSC) deadline to make final decisions
March Tri-agencies approve university nominations
April 1 Students can access their application status on the Research Portal
