Project Title: Identifying Priorities to Address First Nations-specific Racism in the Health Care System in Partnership with Office of the Chief Medical Officer at First Nations Health Authority in BC

Project Description

The overarching goal of our project is to establish a team of Indigenous health researchers (IHRs), health system leaders, physicians and a trainee committed to identifying and implementing action-oriented priorities and pathways to address First Nations-specific racism in the BC health care system.

Our objectives are:

1. Foster a collaborative partnership between Indigenous health researchers (IHRs) and research users (health system leaders and physicians) from the OCMO.
2. Build research capacity in addressing First Nations-specific racism.
3. Co-host a convening space to identify gaps, challenges, and research priorities to address First Nations-specific racism.
4. Co-develop a research priorities report and action plan to address First Nations-specific racism in the health care system.

The expected outcomes of this project:

1. Strengthened partnerships and commitment between OCMO and CCAIHG to address First Nations-specific racism in BC's health care system.
2. Identification of action-oriented research priorities and pathways to address First Nations-specific racism in the health care system.

The output of this is a co-developed action plan and report outlining key research priorities, pathways, and action items to advance First Nations-specific racism in the health care system.
