WinSETT Leadership Workshop: Networks, Mentors and Sponsors

WWEST is excited to host the  as they present all five of their professional development workshops in Vancouver for the first time. After successfully running this leadership program in Edmonton for a number of years, the WinSETT Centre is now offering it across Canada. These workshops are tailored primarily to early to mid-career women working in the traditionally male-dominated fields of science, engineering, technology and trades (SETT) but graduate students and upper undergraduates will also find them an incredibly valuable experience. The program has been developed by professionals based on the experiences of women in SETT and is grounded in research and practices that work. 

The fifth workshop, Networking, Mentors & Sponsors, will be on May 5, 2017. It will help participants to appreciate the role of mentors in supporting and advancing their careers, learn how to develop (and be) sponsors and mentors, and strengthen their networking skills. Register before April 25 to get a 5% early bird discount!

Workshop Speaker: Anna Stukas

Anna is responsible for leading 鈥檚 government programs, and interfaces with a broad range of local, provincial, and federal agencies to secure and manage funding in support of CE鈥檚 technology development. Prior to joining CE, Anna worked with Angstrom Power, where her responsibilities included intellectual property management, technology licensing, product safety, and creation of international standards and regulations for hydrogen and fuel cells. Anna was a core member of the team that negotiated the successful acquisition of Angstrom by the BIC Group for $18.7M USD.

Workshop Facilitator: Cheryl Kristiansen, P. Eng.

Cheryl brings diverse expertise in project management, engineering innovation and leading transformative change in the SETT workplace. She has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, hands-on experience in alternate fuels technology, and senior leadership success in the oil and gas sector. As Managing Director of the Mitchell Odyssey Foundation, Cheryl developed a network of schools across BC with innovative programs that motivate and inspire high school students to pursue STEM careers. As Project Manager with (Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology), Cheryl led the MakePossible mentoring project to advance women (). Cheryl is a certified Kaset Facilitator for quality service and created the "Wild About Science" Odyssey symposium for educators. She has delivered a variety of training workshops across Canada, including MakePossible Diversity by Design workshops at UBC, SFU, BCIT, TRU, UNBC and various industry events.
