Jon Harding joins SFU as Vice-President, Finance and Administration
An experienced organizational leader and administrator with years of experience in the post-secondary and education sectors, SFU is excited to welcome Jon Harding as vice-president, finance and administration (VPFA), effective March 17, 2025.
Jon comes to SFU from his role as secretary-treasurer and CFO in School District 36 (Surrey), where he led a diverse and complex portfolio that included facilities, financial services, information technology and risk management. In that role, he worked to enhance the student and employee experience through open communication and community-wide engagement, implemented a model to enhance alignment of the budget with academic priorities and supported the development of the capital master plan.
As the former VPFA at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and director, financial services for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Jon brings a wealth of post-secondary and government experience to his role at SFU and deeply understands the current challenges facing our sector.
In his role as VPFA at SFU, Jon will oversee critical university portfolios, including Campus Services, Facilities Services, Finance, IT Services and Safety and Risk Services. His focus in this role will include the continued evolution of our budget model and transforming the SFU experience for students, faculty and staff through process improvements and improved service delivery across the organization.
The Board of Governors and executive team would like to thank members of the search committee and once again extend gratitude to Martin Pochurko for his 14 years of service to the university. Thank you also to Karamjeet Heer, currently associate vice-president, finance, for stepping in as VPFA pro tem from Feb. 8 - March 16, 2025.
We are thrilled that Jon has chosen to join us at SFU and look forward to his arrival in March.
