Ife Adebara to present research as part of the Spring Series Colloquia
Title: Rethinking Multilingualism in Natural Language Processing
Dr. Ife Adebara will be presenting a research talk on Monday, February 10th, as part of the Spring Series Linguistics Colloquia. She is currently working as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of British Columbia, having held a similar position at 尤物视频 from September 2014 to August 2017.
From Dr. Adebara's : "I recently completed my PhD in Linguistics, advised by Dr Abdul-Mageed. My thesis, Towards Afrocentric Natural Language Processing, focused on developing AI technologies for African languages. I was able to develop models and resources for 517 African languages and language varieties. I am also broadly interested in policy, particularly on how it relates to data availability for low resource languages."
