Biography
Cynthia 鈥淣iioo-bineh-seh-kwe鈥 Stirbys is Saulteaux-Cree from Treaty 4 Saskatchewan but was raised in northern Ontario. In her PhD research about residential schools, Dr. Stirbys gathered stories from Indigenous women to learn how they cope with the legacy of residential schools and maintain wellness. Dr. Stirbys is a fourth-generation descendant of three (3) generations of survivors. Dr. Stirbys began her new position as Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work, at the University of Windsor in August, 2019.
