My project involves assessing the mineralogy of Cretaceous through Miocene strata beneath the Lower Mainland BC. These data will be used to predict how a potential sandstone reservoir will react to injected CO2 and to assess the potential for mineral trapping of CO2. For my research, I will conduct quantitative analysis using thin sections and Automated Mineralogy Technologies such as QemSCAN and TIMA-X. This project forms part of a larger initiative studying the potential of Carbon storage in sedimentary strata below the Lower Mainland BC.
