Message from the Provost: Lisa Collins joins SFU as Vice-Provost & Associate Vice-President, Students

The vice-provost and associate vice-president, students is a critical role that oversees the university’s Student Services function and transforms the SFU experience by fostering an engaging and supportive environment for all students to thrive. SFU is excited to welcome Lisa Collins to this role, effective May 15, 2025.

Lisa is a higher education leader and champion for student success with decades of experience working in the post-secondary sector in B.C. and Alberta. Her previous roles include vice-president, student experience at University Canada West, vice-president, students at BCIT and vice-provost and university registrar at the University of Alberta. In each of these roles, Lisa has demonstrated strong commitment to creating a positive environment that fosters students’ personal growth, academic success and overall wellbeing through initiatives related to student advising, health and counselling, diversity and inclusion, accessibility, enrolment and more.

In her role as vice-provost and associate vice-president, students, Lisa will oversee the evolution of SFU’s Student Services model to align with student needs, contribute to SFU’s Strategic Enrolment Plan and International Strategy and work with student groups to advance a shared vision ÓÈÎïÊÓÆµâ€™s student experience.

The Provost’s Office would like to thank members of the search committee and once again recognize Rummana Khan Hemani for all that she brought to this role and SFU. Rummana’s last day will be March 31, 2025, and leadership within Student Services will work collaboratively to cover the duties of this role until Lisa joins us.
